Madam Kovarian is a recurring antagonist in the sixth series of the British science fiction television program Doctor Who.
Kovarian is a high-ranking member of the Papal Mainframe, a future militant religious order dedicated to preventing the Doctor from reaching Trenzalore and answering the question "Doctor Who?". Believing the Doctor's answer would unleash a destructive force across the universe, she leads the Silence's splinter faction in their efforts to assassinate him.
She is instrumental in kidnapping Amy Pond and replacing her with a Ganger duplicate, facilitating Amy's impregnation with Melody Pond (River Song). Kovarian subjects Melody to rigorous training to become a weapon against the Doctor. She also outfits Melody with a Silence-modified spacesuit to kill him in the Lake Silencio incident.
Ultimately, Kovarian is undone by the Doctor's clever manipulations. The Silence removes her eye patch, which functions as an Eye Drive and transmits their data. They erase her from history by destroying her memory and identity.
